How to get your free credit reports

You can see your credit reports from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion for free, as often as every week.

The official site

Go to annualcreditreport.com. It's the only site authorized by federal law for free reports. You can also call 1-877-322-8228.

Watch out for lookalikes

Sites with similar names may ask for a card or sign you up for a paid service. The official site never asks for a credit card.

What you'll need

Your name, address, Social Security number, and date of birth. You'll answer a few questions only you should know, like past addresses or loan amounts.
